ASID Mission Statement
ASID advances the interior design profession through knowledge generation and
sharing, advocacy of interior designers' right to practice, professional and public
education, and expansion of interior design markets
The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) is the oldest and largest professional association for the
interior design profession. The society was founded in 1975 following the merger of two interior design associations.
With more than 33,500 members, ASID provides a common identity - a single voice - for the interior design
community. Besides being a vocal proponent for the interior design profession in national and international arenas, the
Society maintains a strong presence in local communities across the U.S. and Canada. Currently, 48 chapters serve
as the focal points for member involvement in ASID and its programs.
A volunteer board of directors guides ASID's strategic direction and initiatives. A staff housed at the headquarters
office in Washington carries out the daily operations of the Society.
ASID's 33,500 members encompass a spectrum of diverse specialties and interests within the interior design
profession. The society boasts a membership of:
20,000 Practitioners
9,000 design students
4,500 Industry Partners in 1,600
companies and organizations
The Ohio South/Kentucky chapter has over 400 members located in southern Ohio, Kentucky and western
West Virginia. For a listing of upcoming events check the calendar page.
